Preamble to the
Constitution
of The American Legion
For God and Country
we
associate ourselves together for the following purposes:
to
uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America; to
maintain law and order; to foster and perpetuate a one hundred percent
Americanism; to preserve the memories and incidents of our associations
in all wars; to inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the
community, state and nation; to combat the autocracy of both the
classes and the masses; to make right the master of might; to promote
peace and goodwill on earth; to safeguard and transmit to posterity the
principles of justice, freedom and democracy; to consecrate and
sanctify our comradeship by our devotion to mutual helpfulness.

The American Legion Auxiliary
The
American Legion Auxiliary has one great purpose - "to contribute to the
accomplishment of the aims and purposes of The American
Legion."
The Auxiliary has no purposes which are apart from the aims of The
American Legion, and its members serve side by side with the members of
The American Legion in a spirit of unselfish devotion to the well being
of the American republic.
Veterans programs are supported by
The American Legion and Auxiliary.
Ridge Post and Unit 255 are closely involved
with The Charlotte Hall Veterans Home.
The Auxiliary joins
hands with The American Legion to serve God and
Country as a family and that bond will never be broken.

Sons
of The American Legion (SAL) work together with The American Legion to
promote a wide variety of programs, including assisting in all
activities, Veterans programs (VAVS), VA home and hospital
volunteering, Children & Youth activities, and community
service.
